FUNDRAISING INFORMATION

Fenit HarbourA group of people in Fenit wish to honour St Brendan by erecting a sculpture in his honour, at the start of the new millennium.  We feel that people everywhere who honour courage and integrity will want to be associated with this project.  Kerry people especially may want to help with a project that will speak to the world of one Kerryman who inspired so many over 1500 years.

The sculpture will cost in the region of €150,000 and we hope many will want to be associated with this project. All those contributing €20 or more will have their names entered in antique script in the Brendan Book along with any commemoration they wish to make. This book will live a thousand years and commemorate the generosity of the present generation.

In a public meeting in July of 1999 the community in Fenit overwhelmingly supported this project and has maintained its support.  Planning permission has been received, fund raising has begun and the work on the site itself will begin shortly.  If we have international as well as local support, it can be done.  It is up to us. Please make cheques payable to Saint Brendan Heritage Centre and send to Father Gearoid O Donnchadha, Secretary, St. Brendan Heritage Centre, Fenit, Co. Kerry, Ireland
